IWCA GHG emissions breakdown for the wine industry

Build a Clear Emissions Baseline

You can't manage what you don't measure. A comprehensive emissions baseline is the foundation of any meaningful climate strategy—giving you the data you need to set targets, track progress, and communicate transparently with stakeholders.

What We'll Work On Together

  • Scope 1, 2, and 3 Inventory

Complete greenhouse gas inventory covering direct emissions, purchased energy, and your full value chain.

  • Data Collection Systems

Establish reliable processes for gathering emissions data from across your operations and supply chain.

  • GHG Protocol Compliance

Ensure your baseline follows internationally recognized standards for accuracy and credibility.

  • Hotspot Analysis

Identify your biggest emissions sources so you can prioritize reduction efforts where they'll have the most impact.

  • Baseline Documentation

Clear documentation of methodology, assumptions, and data sources for transparency and future audits.

  • Ongoing Tracking Framework

Set up systems for annual emissions tracking so you can measure progress year over year.

Decarbonization Roadmap: GHG Accounting for a Global Tech Leader

Developed a complete Scopes 1–3 GHG Inventory for a leading technology firm with complex global operations and a multi-continental supply chain. By navigating the intricate data landscape, I transformed fragmented information into unified, strategic intelligence — establishing the critical baseline necessary for the client to set ambitious science-based reduction targets, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver clarity for immediate risk mitigation and long-term decarbonization planning.

SB 253 Deadline: August 10, 2026

Your Emissions Baseline is Now a Legal Requirement

California's SB 253 mandates annual public disclosure of Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions for companies with more than $1B in annual revenue doing business in California — with the first Scope 1 and 2 reporting deadline set for August 10, 2026. Approximately 2,600 companies are subject to SB 253, including major food & beverage, wine, and agricultural businesses operating in the state.

Even if your company isn't directly covered, your largest customers almost certainly are. As their Scope 3 reporting obligations kick in, supplier data requests will cascade through entire value chains — meaning mid-size wineries, food manufacturers, and ag suppliers will face new pressure to disclose their emissions regardless of their own revenue.

I bring 15+ years of food, beverage, and wine industry expertise to SB 253 compliance — including 9 years building GHG inventories as Sustainability Director at one of California's largest wine companies. My complimentary SB 253 readiness assessment gives you a clear, honest picture of where you stand and what your compliance program requires.
